The Growth Hub has helped a range of businesses in the
Greater Birmingham and Solihull region grow through free business workshops,
access to funding and finance, and support from Growth Hub partners.
Bid Writer Consultancy (BID) provides a unique, vital
service that is giving small and medium-sized (SME) businesses access to
lucrative contracts from local authorities and the public sector through its
expert, affordable bid writing service.
Challenges of the
BID is run by an experienced bid writer with over 15 years
industry knowledge, but with very limited knowledge of using IT systems and IT
processes to increase efficiency.
As the procurement world is constantly changing, gone are
the days of a company submitting a brief description of their service/product
and a price. Today, bids are lengthy documents and funders require very
detailed information on all aspects of the bidders business, and detailed
diagrams showing delivery areas, projected growth and planned outcomes. The
need to hold a ‘library’ of client information is now a must.
BID wanted to grow their business through improving their IT
systems and security, which would enable them to provide new service delivery
and improved customer interface, enabling them to compete in the market place
against larger agencies.
How the Growth Hub
BID applied for a Business Innovation Voucher worth £2,500,
which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Business
Innovation voucher scheme is distributed by Growth Hub partners Birmingham City
University, University of Wolverhampton and Aston University.
With the funding from the Business Innovation Voucher and
match funded by BID, the business was able to work with an IT Consultant, who
was able to help:
cyber security giving the business confidence to actively seek new clients
and safeguard existing client data.
a Bid Writing Library System to simplify and automate parts of the bid writing
process. This will help achieve business efficiencies and support the
financial growth of the business.
internal knowledge to produce high quality documents and bespoke diagrams,
which are crucial to meet client requirements for documents that highlight
specific aspects of their business.
